Had breakfast at Egg this morning (N. 5th near Bedford). One of my favorite spots for the past couple of years. I had the grits, eggs over medium and scrapple on the side. My first time to try this PA Dutch treat. It's basically the head and offal of the pig, boiled then minced into tiny pieces and mixed with cornmeal to make a mush, then formed into a log. Fry it up real good and it's way better than spam or corned beef or whatever breakfast mystery meat. It was crispy on both sides and mushy in the middle and tasted faintly of liver. I'd go back for it. Or hunt for a butcher who makes it. Nummy.
