Exploring Brooklyn part 1

Tasti D Lite, Carroll Gardens-ish
Mancora
176 Smith St, Brooklyn

Walked around Carroll Gardens yesterday. After much deliberation and menu reading (and a stop at Tasti D where we got cake batter ice cream with neon sprinkles) we finally settled on Mancora, a Peruvian joint on Smith St. There is one in the East Village as well.

We ordered sangria. I got Chicharron de Puerco, which was pork chops with yellow rice, sweet potatoes and salsa criol. It was good and tasty but the pork was overcooked. Every time I tried to cut into it, I shook the entire table.

Alex ordered Enrollado de Pollo, which was breast of chicken rolled with feta cheese and spinach, served with purple potatoes. Except when it came, the potatoes were green. Now I know that purple potatoes occur naturally but green potatoes? Sadly, they were the best part of our dinner as the chicken was also overcooked.

The waiter asked us if everything was okay.
"Yes."
"Really? No complaints?"
Uh...is there something you're not telling us? Like how your meat is basically jerky covered in sauce?
